The Kentucky State Fair is obviously known for its tradition in agriculture and food. But this year the Fair is taking big steps toward meeting the demands of a technological revolution by offering a mobile website to fairgoers. This specialized website is tailored for all type of cell phones and offers patrons a convenient way to obtain information concerning the Fair. The site features concert listings, admission prices, real-time traffic reports and other general Fair information.
The mobile site acts much like an iPhone app but is compatible with other devices, including Blackberrys and Androids. Patrons can gain access to the app by scanning the QR code found on the website as well as other fair media or by visiting http://www.kystatefair.org/KSFMobile/mobileinfo.aspx and bookmarking the site for future reference.
The Kentucky State Fair maintains a constant social media presence on Facebook and Twitter as another way for patrons to stay wired to the Fair happenings. The Fair is also on Foursquare, a geo-location social media tool that allows users to “check-in” at various venues on the fairgrounds as well as offer tips on everything from Fair food to animal exhibits.
