YAP is back…

Yep, YAP is back. And if you consider yourself a music fan, you will be there! Because this year’s Young Adult Project tent is boasting performances by the top 15 local bands in Kentuckiana. Bands like The Dirty Grindstones, last year’s Battle of the Bands Champs.

The Dirty Grindstones describe their musical style as “Funk Rock” but claim fairgoers really need to experience their show to get a sense for their true style. The local band has experienced numerous successes since forming in 2006, including making the top eight finals in the Road to Bonaroo competition, against bands from all over the country. Austin Roush, lead guitarist and vocals for The Dirty Grindstones said they owe their great performances to good old fashion practice.

Practice not only makes you sound better, it makes the performance so much more fun,” said Roush. “When we know our set inside and out we can relax more and just let the music come out. You just have to feel it.”

Also performing at the YAP Tent is The Broken Spurs. This local rock n’ roll band was recently featured in Louisville’s LEO Weekly after opening up for legendary rockers AC/DC. The band lists AC/DC and Led Zeppelin as their biggest influences and it shows in their energetic rifts and powerful vocals. The Broken Spurs are definitely on a roll, and we are proud to have them gracing the YAP Tent stage along with so many other awesome bands: Slithering Beast, Cougar Express, Phantom Limb, Hearts at War and others.

If you’re feeling like rocking out with a higher power, visit the YAP Tent on August 21st for the Christian More Than Music Experience. Artists like Josh Reardon, Matt Fogle and New Psalm will be playing great music with a message.

No matter what your particular genre of choice, find all your favorites at the YAP Tent. Don’t forget to say hello to this year’s official mascot, Rockin Ted!
