Healthy Living. We Give You Options.

Somewhere, between birthdays and the annual weekend getaway to Gatlinburg, are health checkups. Health checkups are as much a part of everyday life as to-do lists, popcorn and a movie and text messaging. They save lives, give hope and protect families. Unfortunately, annual (or bi-annual) health checkups have been pushed down the symbolic totem pole of priorities. Even below to-do lists, popcorn and a movie and text messaging.

Just as we do our part to educate Kentuckians about their own region (see Pride of the Counties,) we will do our part to encourage Kentuckians of all ages to get annual screenings and health checkups. Located in South Wing B, the Health Horizons exhibit showcases and celebrates healthy people living healthy lives. Every year during the Kentucky State Fair, the medical community comes together to collaborate their services into a single, convenient location for you and your family. Medical professionals provide health screenings (most are free) and state-of-the-art medical displays, as well as free samples and information to help promote healthier lifestyles throughout Kentucky.

The various screenings and health-related activities are:

So somewhere, between the annual pilgrimage to Freddy Farm Bureau and the classic corn dog stand, lies Health Horizons. Just don’t tell them about the donut burger you just ate.
