Veggie Bowl and Spaghetti. Say It Ain’t So.
We took a quick stroll around the Kentucky Exposition Center to find something. Something new, something different, something unexpected. So we asked ourselves (and others), what is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word “fair?” For some it may be “exhibits” or “animals,” but for me a plethora of things flood my brain and my taste buds, and they all involve the word “fried.” Now, I don’t want to go in to my Paula Deen-like weakness for all things butter, but let’s just say I know my way around a basket of cheese fries. As blasphemous, culinary-speaking, as it may be, I, and we at the Fair, find ourselves looking for ways to sprinkle in healthy options into our daily routine.
If you’re on a diet trying to drop those few lingering pounds before that end-of-summer extravaganza or just a health nut, the Fair is still the place for you. We showcase various items including the Veggie Bowl and the Grilled Chicken Wrap in the South Wing B food court next to Kidz Biz.
Fairtown Food Court, located in the back of South Wing C behind the Commercial Exhibits, offers a chicken fajita wrap, chef salad and spaghetti. Yeah, carbo-loaders can rejoice, there is spaghetti at the Fair. Fairgoers can also enjoy the high protein, low fat lamb sandwiches at the Kentucky Sheep and Wool Producers kiosk located in the Kentucky Cookout Tent. Even dessert-a-holics can find something to fit into their dietary scheme with frozen bananas and the summertime institution of non-cholesterol, non-dairy pineapple whips.
